We are wearing purple on Thursday May 5th, World Pulmonary Hypertension Day, to raise awareness and celebrate the lives of children with pulmonary hypertension in our local community and beyond. Please consider sending in a toonie as all funds raised will be donated to Sick Kids Hospital Toronto Paediatric Pulmonary Hypertension Centre. Sick Kids is one of only 6 hospitals in the world which has a specialized centre for children with PH. Pulmonary Hypertension (PH) causes high pressure between the heart and lungs. This is not traditional “high blood pressure” that can be measured with an arm cuff. With PH, a person’s heart works very hard to pump to the lungs and using oxygen can help a PH patient’s heart work less hard. Thank you in advance for your support of “Wear Purple Day”!
