February 26th is a Professional Development Day that has been added following understandings reached in the last round of provincial collective agreement negotiations.  At John Mahood, staff will spend the morning thinking about what we can do to improve student learning by focusing on effective teaching practices.  These effective practices align with the Board Improvement Plan and take shape in John Mahood’s School Improvement Plan.  In the afternoon, staff will participate in web-based video presentations focusing on important topics that fall under the realms of health, safety and well-being.  In busy school life, this is an invaluable opportunity to pause being with students so we may reflect and consequently direct our energies more effectively to serve students.
