It is with a very heavy heart that the John Mahood community mourns the loss of Mrs. Lin Martin, who passed away Thursday, Feb., 11, 2021.  Mrs. Martin joined John Mahood in September, 2013, where she taught in our Full Day Kindergarten program. Mrs. Martin was a dedicated supporter of our Roots of Empathy program, she whole-heartedly participated in our spirit days bringing a smile to our staff and students’ faces.  In her role, as the morning Early Childhood Educator, she created a welcoming environment for all our students.  Her compassionate and caring manner could be felt in the classroom, the hallways and throughout the whole school. Mrs. Martin was always upbeat and positive and will be greatly missed.

Our thoughts are with her husband, Duke, her daughter Nikki (Jason), her son, AJ (Sherrie) and her grandchildren, who she just loved and adored.

Members of the Board’s Critical Events Response Team have been consulted to support our students and staff as best as they can due to COVID-19.

In honour of Mrs. Martin, the flags at John Mahood and the Waterloo Region District School Board will be flown at half-mast.
