Every morning we welcome dozens of students with a variety of special needs; physical, emotional etc.

These are students who, for one reason or another, can’t enter the school in the usual way. We have worked with families and medical professionals to create a variety of entry plans to ensure that these students can enter our school safely and with dignity. It is extremely difficult to preserve the safety/privacy of these students when there is increased traffic and congestion in the hallways.

We respectfully ask you to please refrain from entering the school through the front doors at entry or dismissal times. Students should be encouraged to line up at their designated entry/dismissal door with their peers and follow the routines established by their classroom teachers (undress themselves, empty their own backpacks etc).

We understand that occasionally life happens and students are late but if we all work together to do what is best for our students, we will be able to ensure that everyone’s needs are met with the privacy and dignity they deserve.

Protection of Student Personal Information

Our staff and students enjoy opportunities to share some of their activities with parents and the school community through teams, clubs and special events. Many of these are memory making for families and as such, photographs are taken. We ask that families exercise their discretion when taking photographs or videos at school events and consider the privacy of other students who may also be present in those pictures. We would appreciate if families not upload images of students other than their own to the Internet (e.g. YouTube of Facebook). Your cooperation is appreciated.

Student Drop Off and Pick Up

Students who do not qualify for bussing should be walking to school. Parents who choose to drive their children are reminded to adhere to safety guidelines in the Gibson Park parking lot. Students are not to be running through the parking lot and should be dropped off at the designated spot. Please reduce speed when entering and exiting the parking lot and demonstrate respect towards bylaw officials who are working to ensure the safety of your children. Parents are reminded that there is no stopping or parking, at any time, in the bus loading zone located directly in front of the school.
